The Fusion 5 Performance Tubeless Ready Tire is Hutchinson's all-round tubeless compatible tire, designed to excel in all conditions, dry or wet. Hutchinson claims significant improvements to traction, rolling resistance, durability, puncture resistance, and comfort compared to its predecessor the Fusion 3. This is achieved in large part through the use of their ElevenSTORM rubber compound, which was developed through extensive research and testing over a three year period in order to meet these performance goals across a variety of conditions, along with the inherent benefits to traction and compliance you get by running lower tire pressures with a self-sealing tubeless setup. Hutchinson offers two versions of their tubeless road tires: Road Tubeless and Road Tubeless Ready. Being the latter, the Fusion 5 Performance Tubeless Ready Tire can be set up tubeless or with tubes depending on your preference, whereas the Road Tubeless type is recommended for tubeless use only. It also weighs less than the Road Tubeless equivalent, as it omits the heavy-duty Kevlar reinforcement in favor of a lighter Hardskin fabric that still helps fend of punctures and slits from roadside debris while saving you about 60g of weight per tire.
