"What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:""I’ve used the Challenger 28 for everything from ski mountaineering to summer alpine linkups, and it’s legit one of the most versatile packs I’ve owned. The Ultra 400 and 200 fabric holds up to granite scrapes, and I love that I can drop weight by removing the hip belt or expand it to 32L when I need more space. It feels purpose-built for serious missions.""We grab the La Sportiva Challenger 28 Pack when we need a pack that disappears on our back—but delivers when the pressure’s on. Whether we’re ticking off alpine traverses, hauling skis through a storm, or booting up steep couloirs, the Challenger gives us durability, modular storage, and dialed carry performance across all seasons. Built with Challenge Sailcloth Ultra 400 and 200, this pack is exceptionally resistant to tears, abrasion, and water—ready for real mountain abuse. The 28L main volume expands to 32L, with a roll-top closure and dual compartments that keep gear organized. External modular systems handle ice tools, rope, helmet, and skis, while an internal thermoformed back panel and removable hip belt give us structure when we need it—and speed when we don’t."
