For a warm night of sleep, we like the Rab Stratosphere 4 Sleep Pad for spring, summer, and fall camping. The pad features synthetic insulation and thick, 3+ inch cushioning to reduce convective heat loss while boosting comfort with oversized outer air chambers that keep us centered on the mat. The rectangular shape accommodates several sleeping positions—good for those of us who roll over overnight. The mat inflates and deflates easily through a low-profile, two-way valve using the included pump sack—which saves our longs and prevents mold- and mildew-causing moisture buildup. It's easy. The pump sack slips into the two-way valve. Then we simply capture air in the pump sack and roll it down to compress the air into the pad to inflate it. The pump sack also doubles as a compression stuff sack for our sleeping bag to save a little weight.
