"What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:""What I like about this setup is that it doesn't punish curiosity. I took it on a groomed loop that turned into a quick detour down a fire road, and the wood core skis just kept up, no complaints.""Most touring setups pick a lane, either the groomed loop or the wild edges around it, and ask you to commit. The Salomon Outpath 60 Grip Classic Ski Package w/ Poles doesn't bother with that choice. Start on a set track, let the afternoon pull you toward a fire road or a few unmarked inches of fresh snow, and the gear just follows along without missing a step. A wood core gives the ski a lively snap that foam alternatives rarely manage, and 3/4 length steel edges hold a line when the track firms up on the way back in. An embossed grip pattern means no wax gets packed for the trip at all. The boots keep pace with a soft touring flex built for natural forefoot roll and a roomy fit that shrugs off a long afternoon, while the poles bring a stiff aluminum shaft and an asymmetrical basket built specifically for the moment the trail stops being groomed."
