"What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:""I took this off the groomed track onto a wind blown ridge, and the full steel edges made all the difference on the refrozen crust. Never once needed wax for the climb, which is one less thing to think about when the terrain's already asking a lot.""At some point every touring ski runs out of road, and that's exactly where the Salomon Outside 100 Grip Touring Ski Package w/ Poles picks up. This one's built for the day a narrower setup would turn back, steep and deep and unpredictable in a way that rewards width and edge bite over speed. A wood core wrapped in fiberglass absorbs the chatter of icy traverses while staying light enough to thread through trees and tight pitches without a fight. Full length steel edges are the reason the descent stays a choice instead of a survival exercise, holding a line through crust, ice, or whatever the snow decides to do next. The Posi Grip base skips wax entirely, even before a long climb, and a tip notch accepts an optional skin when the pitch gets serious enough to demand one. Pair it with the Outpath BC boot's glass fiber cuff and waterproof gaiter, and a set of Outpath poles built with the same off track mentality, and the whole kit is ready for the terrain most setups are built to avoid."
