A light, compact workhorse, the Wild Country Ropeman has received a finetuned design, making it smoother than ever. The Ropeman 4 features wide ridges, instead of sharp teeth, to cam our rope, minimizing sheath wear, while the grooved guide pin keeps our rope properly aligned, minimizing drag as we ascend. The introduction of a guide pin makes rigging simpler—the spring-loaded side plate snaps back into place once our rope is loaded, and the large cylinder hole lets us clip and flip our 'biner fuss free. This do-it-all piece of equipment is barely detectible on our harness yet packs a lot of use—self-belay, rescue, or ascending—making it a staple in our alpine rack.
