Stopping carbon braking surfaces used to be rather troublesome, requiring the rider to stay on top of things, due to overheating issues and the subsequent pulsing that followed. Answering the needs of stopping carbon hoops, the Zipp Tangente Platinum Pro Evo Brake Pads deliver an approximate 10% increase in stopping power, thanks to their increased surface area, compound, and deeper grooves. The pads' larger surface area comes courtesy of an increase in radial height, helping to disperse heat more effectively for consistent stopping power. This increased radial height also improves brake pad longevity, as there's more surface area for longer wear life. And though radial height has increased, width has actually decreased by 1mm to accommodate larger tires, wider rims, and brake-integrated systems. Another cool feature you'll find with these brake pads are their newly updated grooves. Deeper grooves lower temperatures under hard braking, also serving to channel water off the brakes for increased stopping power afforded by drier braking surfaces.
