"What Our Gearhead® Experts Are Saying:""I brought the Gully Adze Ice Axe on a steep couloir climb and the tapered pick stuck cleanly on the first swing every time. At this weight, I barely noticed it clipped to my harness on the approach, which made the technical section that much easier to enjoy.""Steep ice demands a tool that keeps up with the terrain, and the Gully Adze Ice Axe from Petzl was built for exactly that kind of climb. Picture working up a narrow couloir before sunrise, front points biting into hard névé, one precise swing after another between you and the ridge above. That precision comes from a re-curve pick tapered to a fine point, giving each placement a clean stick and an easy release for the next move. The TRIGREST handrest shifts into climbing position without a single tool, and grooves cut into the shaft keep your grip locked in through pitch after pitch. At well under 300 grams, it rides on your harness like it isn't there, until the moment the ice gets steep and you're glad it is."
